Showout 1.0.1

Linux x86_64 AppImage. Program output is watermarked until a license key is activated, so the same download works as a free trial. A license activates on up to three devices. Changes since the 1.0.0 public trial:

New

  • Prepare clips as HAP, HAP Q, HAP Alpha or Hap R from the Library. Preparation shows progress and can be cancelled. Prepare all converts every clip in the folder that is not already HAP, and Use prepared switches cells to the prepared files.
  • showout prepare runs the same conversion from the command line.
  • Preparation uses the encoder bundled with Showout. FFmpeg does not need to be installed.
  • Preparation stops with a message if converting a clip would drop its alpha channel.
  • Scene looks, clip fades, blur and OSC control.
  • Video decoding uses VA-API hardware decoders when available. If a hardware decoder fails to open a file, Showout decodes it in software.
  • License keys can be activated in the License section. A license keeps working offline for a grace period, and the License section shows how many grace days remain. Without a license, the program output shows a watermark.
  • Scene cards use a two-row layout, with scene actions in a menu on each card.
  • FPS and output diagnostics are in the Performance Monitor.

Fixed

  • Looping HAP clips could stop on their last frame when clip launches were quantized to the bar.
  • Disabled controls in the clip matrix responded to clicks.
  • A refused license activation showed a guessed reason. It now points to the customer portal and support.
  • Save Template As adds .json when the name has none. Templates saved without it did not show in Open Template.
  • Templates that used the bundled sample find it again after Showout restarts.
  • Locate Missing Media shows its result, including the confirmation step when only some files are found.

Included components

  • GStreamer 1.28.7, FFmpeg 8.1.2 (LGPL build), GLib 2.86.0 and Snappy 1.2.2.
  • Requires glibc 2.36 or newer, as on Debian 12.

Known limitations

  • Windows is not included.
  • Hap R preparation is experimental.
  • Hardware decoding has been tested only with VA-API on AMD graphics. NVDEC (NVIDIA) and V4L2 decoding have not been tested.
  • On GPUs without a working hardware decoder, video is decoded in software.
  • Output blur and bloom have not been tested across GPUs.
  • 8K sources have not been tested.
  • Live camera input is not included.
